Closing Your Account

Overview

There are two very different actions people mean by "delete my account": removing a single site from your dashboard, and closing your entire account (your whole organization/workspace and every site in it). Deleting a site is a self-serve action you can do yourself. Closing an entire account is handled with help from AllAccessible support. This guide explains the difference and walks through the right path for each.

Who This Is For

  • Account owners winding down completely and wanting everything closed

  • Users who only need to remove one site (not the whole account)

  • Anyone unsure whether to delete a site or close the account

What You'll Learn

  • The difference between deleting a site and closing your account

  • Why full account closure is support-assisted, not a dashboard button

  • How to cancel billing first, then request closure

  • What happens to your data

Deleting a Site vs. Closing Your Account

Action

Who does it

What it affects

Delete a site

You (self-serve, in the dashboard)

One site and its subdomains, audits, and settings. Cancels that site's subscription. Your account/organization stays open.

Close your account

AllAccessible support (with your request)

Your entire organization/workspace, all sites, and all associated data.

Important: Deleting your last remaining site does not close your account. Your organization (workspace), login, and profile all remain. If you want everything gone, that's account closure — see below.

If You Only Want to Remove One Site

This is fully self-serve. Each site has a Danger Zone with a type-to-confirm delete flow, a 30-day grace period, and automatic subscription cancellation for that site.

See the dedicated guide: Deleting a Site.

You do not need to contact support to delete a single site.

Closing Your Entire Account

There is no self-serve "delete account" or "close account" button in the dashboard. Full account closure is handled by AllAccessible support so we can make sure billing is stopped cleanly and your data is removed correctly.

Step 1: Cancel Your Billing First

Before requesting closure, stop any active subscriptions so you aren't billed again:

  1. Go to Billing in the left sidebar

  2. Click Manage Billing to open the secure billing portal

  3. Cancel each active subscription there (Manage Subscriptions)

If you have multiple sites, each site is its own subscription — cancel each one. Deleting a site (Danger Zone) also cancels that site's subscription immediately, which is an alternative way to stop billing per site.

Step 2: Request Account Closure

Once billing is cancelled, contact support to close the account:

  • Subject: Close my account

  • Include:

    • The email address on the account

    • Your organization / workspace name

    • Confirmation that you want the entire account and all sites closed

Support will confirm the request before proceeding.

What Happens to Your Data

  • Per-site data (audits, settings, accommodation requests) follows the same 30-day grace period described in Deleting a Site when sites are removed.

  • Billing records: invoices are retained in the billing portal — download anything you need before closing.

  • Recovery: once an account is fully closed and its grace period passes, data cannot be recovered. Export or screenshot anything important first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is there a "Delete Account" button in my profile settings?
A: No. Profile settings let you update your name, security, and notification preferences, but there is no self-serve account-deletion button. Full closure is done through support.

Q: I deleted all my sites. Is my account closed now?
A: No. Deleting sites stops their billing and removes their data, but your account/organization still exists. Contact support if you want the account itself closed.

Q: Will I be charged after I ask to close my account?
A: Cancel your subscriptions in the billing portal first (Step 1). Once subscriptions are cancelled, you won't be billed again.

Q: Can I reopen a closed account later?
A: Reach out to [email protected]. Depending on timing, you may need to create a new account and set up sites again.

Q: Can I just cancel billing and leave the account open?
A: Yes. If you only want to stop paying, cancel your subscriptions via Manage Billing and leave the account as-is. You don't have to close it.
